I am a mother of two girls, one in high school and one in middle school. We live in a not-so-safe area. My children have never been able to ride bikes, walk to the store or even go out and play with friends because of the fact that there are so many registered sex offenders in our location.
There is a park near our home, yet there are three offenders located right next to the park and one across the street. It is just not safe.
So I started looking for something for my girls and I to do together and I keep hitting road blocks. I wanted to take them to aerobic classes, but you have to be 18 to attend at the gym. When I was a kid we used to go to Kelseyville High and do aerobics with our parents for a decent cost.
I was born and raised in this country and growing up here I know first-hand that there is really not much for kids to do if they are not into competing.
So I am looking for some advice. I am hoping there is some help out there. Sutter has the Wellness Center, but it too is for adults.
What about our kids? They need an environment in which they can be taught good nutrition and learn how to safely exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
