Where, oh where has my vote gone? It can”t be in Washington for what I voted for isn”t happening there.
When are The White House and our Congress going to listen to the voice of the people and heed research indicators that our government is on the wrong track?
It”s time to take care of the United States citizenry first before throwing away our wealth and lives of future generations.
There is something radically wrong when our elected officials in government (Republican, Democrat and all the rest) can approve the spending of trillions, yes trillions on the wars in the Middle East and foreign aid, which a majority of voters do not approve of because much of it ends up in the hands of those killing our servicemen and women and to finance a life of luxury for corrupt officials, their families, friends and other despots, some who profess to be our friends and allies.
To paraphrase Shakespeare “Friends, fellow voters and countrymen lend me your ears,” things must change when one-in-six adults and one-in-four children in this country of ours do not know where their next meal is coming from (see the ABC, “Hunger in America” report). They are sleeping on the streets and do not get the health care they need.
It”s time for a revelation at the ballot box and institution at the state and federal level of an amendment to our Constitution that only allows elected officials to serve one term in office, restricts the length of election periods and limits the amount of money that can be spent on running for public office. We need to know where the money comes from, too. Our vote at the ballot box gives us a choice. What”s yours?
