UPPER LAKE — The Upper Lake High School girls” soccer players took it their county neighbors Tuesday afternoon, defeating the team from Kelseyville High School 9-2 at the Upper Lake Athletic Field.

Junior sweeper Jamie Henry led the Cougar attack with a hat trick. Junior forward Shayla Wyman and sophomore midfielder Bethany Rymel each scored two goals.

Senior Tanya Carter and sophomore Krista Coleman rounded out the Upper Lake scoring with a goal apiece.

Upper Lake scored five goals in the first half en route to the 9-2 victory.

Coach Mike Sheets said his Upper Lake varsity team recovered well after a recent tough loss. Sheets described Tuesday”s performance as featuring “a lot of assists and learning from previous mistakes and playing the ball correctly.”

The Upper Lake girls” varsity soccer team next plays Friday, hosting Tomales at 4:30 p.m.
