This letter is in response to Kathryn Cole”s letter of Aug. 26. She is concerned about the lack of safe activities for her family in Lucerne. I would like to invite her and her girls to join the Lucerne FLOW Community Garden.
We are centrally located at 13th Avenue and Highway 20 in Lucerne and welcome anyone who wants fresh air, a beautiful location, a place to grow food and the friendship of like-minded families.
We currently have 16 boxes now in full bloom with a wide-variety of flowers and vegetables and have plans for six additional boxes in the next few months.
This project, now in its second year, gives children the opportunity to grow food from seed to harvest.
I would also like Ms. Cole to know that on Oct. 8, Lucerne FLOW is sponsoring the second annual October Harvest Festival in Harbor Park.
This has proven to be an excellent opportunity for families to have a fun, safe and exciting day right here in Lucerne.
The festival includes a horseshoe tournament, vendors, food, music, games for all ages and the popular town-wide scavenger hunt.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help plan and participate in this huge event. Anyone interested in more information should call 274-2370.
Lucerne can have more fun, safe and varied activities for children when the community comes together with plans and passion.
