KELSEYVILLE — The Lake County Palms women”s softball team recently claimed its sixth straight championship in the Lake County Adult Softball Association, this year by beating Friel Law two games to none in the finals at County Park.

Lake County Palms capped a 16-0 season with a 5-2 win in the first championship game and a 23-6 victory in the second championship game.

For the season, Lake County Palms outscored its opponents 262-35, including five shutouts thrown by Lori Wilson, the pitcher of record in all 16 of the team”s victories. Wilson also was among team hitting leaders with a .655 batting average.

Other stars at the plate for Lake County Palms were Tami Mendonca (.728), Carol Dellinger (.607) and Lynda Holden (.604). The remaining team members had a combined bating average of .559. They were Michelle Snyder, Julie Kelley, Chyral Bryant, Tammy Alakszay, Katie Reynolds, Rylie Gabehart, Linda Banfill and Allison Panella.

“In one word … phenomenal,” longtime coach Gary Cambra said of the team”s sustained success. “This has been the most pleasurable season in the last 20 years. It is a great group of ladies.”
