LAKE COUNTY — Area first responders will lead in a moment of silence at 9:53 a.m. Sept. 11 at Austin Park.

The community is invited to unite and remember those lost on that tragic day 10 years ago and those who continue to fight for liberty and freedom in the war that followed.

Those who cannot attend the event are encouraged to stop wherever they are at 9:53 a.m. and join in the moment of silence.

The event will begin with a procession of emergency vehicles from Lake County Fire Protection District down Olympic Drive to Austin Park. Veterans interested in riding on an emergency vehicle to and from the event are welcome to contact Denise Rockenstein at 994-6444, ext. 14.

The remembrance event will include a brief ceremony, including a volley gun salute by the Military Funeral Honors Team of Lake County at Austin Park. The ceremony will be followed by an opportunity to view a Sept. 11 video that was made for broadcast on Showtime. The video will be shown at the Lake County Fire Protection District Volunteer Firefighters Association”s conference room at the fire station on Olympic Drive in Clearlake.
