LAKEPORT — The charges against a Clear Lake Riviera man accused of threatening a Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) sergeant were dismissed Wednesday afternoon.
Deputy district attorney Trang Vo told Judge Richard P. Kalustian that the Lake County District Attorney”s Office determined there was insufficient evidence to take the case against John Robert Gray to a jury trial.
A female neighbor of Gray, 45, said she heard Gray yell expletives and threats in the direction of LCSO Sgt. David Perry”s house on July 20, according to court records. Gray and Perry live in the same neighborhood. Gray faced a felony count associated with the alleged threat. He denied the allegation during his arraignment in August and later pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing in the case had been set for Wednesday.
Though the criminal case against Gray was dismissed, a three-year civil restraining order, which mandates that Gray must stay 20 yards away from Perry, his family and his house, remains in effect.
