LAKEPORT — A judge Wednesday rescheduled the preliminary hearing of a Kelseyville man charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and other felonies.
Jacobo Lopezmejia, 24, faces two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter, two felony counts of driving under the influence causing great bodily injury and a misdemeanor count of driving without a license.
The charges stem from an Aug. 18 crash in which Lopezmejia allegedly lost control of a Ford F-150, which ultimately exited Merritt Road and overturned several times. Two of the passengers, Hector C. Perez and Florentino Leon Flores, died at the scene while the remaining three passengers and Lopezmejia were transported to various hospitals.
Lopezmejia pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied five special allegations in the case. Judge Richard C. Martin granted a defense request to continue the preliminary hearing, which had been scheduled to start Wednesday. Martin scheduled the hearing for Sept. 27 at 8:15 a.m. at the Lake County Courthouse.
