LAKEPORT — An attempted-murder suspect appeared in court Tuesday for his arraignment on seven felonies and a slew of special allegations charged in connection with a shooting incident in Kelseyville Saturday.
Andrew J. Serrano, 38, of Kelseyville remains in custody at the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail for allegedly beating his estranged wife and shooting a man accompanying the woman.
The Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) reported responding to a residence on Big Valley Road after receiving a call about a shooting Saturday afternoon. Deputies allegedly located Serrano at the residence with a gun in-hand and later detained him.
Authorities said they located William Turner in the garage with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency personnel transported Turner to an out-of-county hospital.
Authorities reported also locating Serrano”s estranged wife, who was bruised and bleeding. She reportedly told deputies she went to the residence with Turner to pick up some personal belongings and Serrano when showed up, an argument ensued.
Detectives arrested Serrano Saturday afternoon and booked him into the jail. He has been charged with seven felonies, including attempted murder, aggravated mayhem, assault with a firearm and false imprisonment.
Special allegations against Serrano include that he personally used a firearm and personally inflicted injury during the alleged crimes.
Serrano appeared before Judge Richard C. Martin at the Lake County Courthouse Tuesday, according to court records. He did not enter a plea during the appearance.
The judge signed off on a criminal protection order, preventing Serrano from coming within 100 yards of Turner and the estranged wife. Serrano will next appear in court Monday morning for appearance of counsel and entry of plea.
