LAKEPORT — The Third Friday Live Series launches its new season at 7 p.m. this Friday at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre. Cost of admission is $10.
The evening is being dedicated as a benefit fundraiser for local musician and community member Carl Stewart who is being treated for cancer.
The show opens with Andy Kong. This singer-songwriter released his first album at age 15, “New Day Rising.” He recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in cognitive neuroscience and released his newest album, “This Beautiful World,” a collection of 11 songs of moments lost, new beginnings and open roads. Since its release, “This Beautiful World” has received reviews by listeners as well as music industry professionals comparing his sound to that of a mixture between James Taylor, Jack Johnson and Amos Lee. His newest single, “Freedom and Photographs,” can be heard on www.youtube.com/user/andykongmusic.
The evening continues with the local a capella quartet EarReverence, which has entertained audiences in and around Lake County for more than 10 years. Two men and two women sing everything from jazz to gospel to rock a capella including Queen”s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Radiohead”s “Creep.” The quartet”s album “Playin” Favorites” will be available Friday night at the concert.
Rounding out the evening is Without a Net, the local classic rock ”n” roll band. This band of mostly Lake County educators encourages everyone to come out and help support one of its own band members in his family”s time of need. The dance floor will be open and audience members are encouraged to dance.
A silent auction will take place until 9:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Carl Stewart Medical Fund. Private donations can also be made to the Carl Stewart Medical Fund at Umpqua Bank in Lakeport or Kelseyville.
