LAKEPORT — Officers from the Lakeport Police Department (LPD) assisted with security during the nurses” strike at Sutter Lakeside Hospital on Thursday.

A representative from the Sutter Lakeside Hospital contacted LPD staff late Tuesday afternoon seeking assistance with security concerns for the planned nurses” strike by members of the California Nurses Association.

Sutter Lakeside Hospital requested to contract for two LPD officers to be present at the main entrance of the hospital off Hill Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sutter Lakeside Hospital agreed to reimburse the City of Lakeport for all overtime costs incurred. The LPD agreed to the contract after consulting with the Lake County Sheriffs Office regarding the event.

A press release provided by LPD Sgt. Kevin Odom stated, “The mission of the Lakeport Police Officers will be the safety of all parties involved and to remain impartial.”
