MIDDLETOWN — The ninth annual EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk will end on Oct. 8 when artists will be on the center trail for a week to remove this year”s exhibit.

There is still time to be among the approximately 2,500 people who have viewed the 27 pieces of large-scale sculptures “in dialogue with nature” at the Middletown County Trailside Park.

The EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk is a free, long-term public art exhibit that highlights the sculptural expressions of professional artists alongside local schools and community groups.

This year the installation highlighted work by People Services, Coyote Valley Elementary School and Lake County International Charter School. Its professional artists include Alicia Lee Farnsworth, Christalene Loren, Mary Mattlage, Sherry and Diego Harris and Lisa Kaplan, among others.

The newest EcoArtists are Tim Salisbury, Rick Foltz, Marcus Maria Jung and Jackie and Joe Felber.

According to organizer Karen Turcotte, “This year”s exhibit is very strong and the work is extremely compelling with focus on natural materials or messages directly related to nature.”

The Middletown County Trailside Park is open from dawn to dusk. The sculpture walk is along the center trail and is approximately a quarter-mile long. There is a free self-guided tour book at the beginning of the center trail. Docent tours can be arranged by appointment.

Visitors are encouraged to pack a lunch or dinner and take advantage of the many benches and picnic tables scattered along the trails of this 107 acre park.

Middletown County Trailside Park is located approximately 1.5 miles from downtown Middletown on Dry Creek Cutoff off Highway 175. The park and central trail are also accessible to pedestrians off Highway 175.
