CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police were requested in the area of 12th Street in Clearlake Park Monday following a report of a suspected pipe bomb. The device was later detonated without incident.
According to Sgt. R. Joseph, around 2:17 p.m. officers were requested in the 12th Street area where a suspicious device was located in a dried pond area about 25 yards north of Country Club Drive. Joseph said Lake County Office of Emergency Systems (OES) was contacted, with subsequently contacted and requested the assistance of the Napa County Bomb Squad (NCBS).
Joseph said the device appeared to be a live pipe bomb. It was ultimately detonated by the NCBS without incident. The scene was cleared around 6 p.m.
