LAKEPORT — A special event for teens, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lakeport Library, combines the Big Read with the Young Adult Library Services Association”s (YALSA) Teen”s Top Ten books.
The combined program features a movie, “Edgar Allan Poe: a Light & Enlightening Look from the Writing Wonders Series,” and a podcast announcing YALSA”s 10 most popular young adult reads in America for 2011. Light snacks will be served.

New Vintage Productions
LAKEPORT — New Vintage Productions presents Edgar Allan Poe”s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. John”s Church, located at 1190 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport. The production features the Clear Lake High School Drama Department and community players.
“The Fall of the House of Usher” will be the centerpiece, but a sampling of Poe”s poetry and a shorter work entitled “Three Sundays in a Week” will also be included. There will be a short discussion period after the performance. The event is free.
