LAKEPORT — A Nice resident Tuesday pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied special allegations related to the Sept. 13 slaying of Cindy Yvette Quiett.

Daniel Ray Loyd, 50, remains in custody at the Lake County Jail and faces six felonies, including murder and assault with a firearm, for his alleged role in Quiett”s death.

Authorities claim Loyd shot Quiett, 48, during a robbery attempt in the early morning hours of Sept. 13 on Sherwood Court in Lucerne.

The Lake County District Attorney”s Office added a pair of special allegations to the case Tuesday after learning Loyd had a 1989 attempted robbery conviction in Indiana, according to senior deputy district attorney John DeChaine.

Loyd”s attorney, Robert Boyd, informed the court Tuesday that his client pleaded not guilty to the felonies and denied all special allegations in the case.

Judge Arthur H. Mann scheduled the preliminary hearing for Feb. 8. Loyd”s next court appearance will be Jan. 17 in Department 3 for preliminary hearing readiness conference.
