LAKEPORT — The Lake County Office of Education”s AmeriCorps Program along with the Lake County Hunger Task Force will be holding the annual Make-A-Difference Day non-perishable food drive on Oct. 22.
Make-A-Difference Day is a national day of service, Volunteers all across the county will be providing service projects to make a difference.
In Lake County volunteers will be at 10 locations around Lake County collecting food. Then at 3 p.m. all sites will bring the collected donations to the “Stuff-A-Bus” events at Grocery Outlet in Lakeport. Where the bus will be stuffed. This marks the 11th year of the event, of which more than 40,000 pounds of food have been collected and distributed to Lake County families in need.
Three ways to participate:
? Collect with club/agency and call to arrange pick-up.
? Collect until Oct. 22 and drop donations off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at any partnering sites or Grocery Outlet, Lakeport at 3 p.m.
? Call the AmeriCorps Program to sign up as a volunteer, or go to 1800volunteer.org to register as a volunteer.
A number of local businesses are partnering with the AmeriCorps program for the event. Supporting businesses: Hardester”s Market in Middletown, Hardester”s Market on Cobb, Riviera Market, Red & White Market, Sentry Market, Bruno”s Shop Smart, Safeway, Grocery Outlet, Foods Etc., IGA, Lake Transit, Lake County Record-Bee, and Bi-Coastal Media.
All proceeds stay in Lake County and will go to the North Coast Opportunities Community Action Agency to be distributed to food cupboards/pantries in Lake County.
