LOWER LAKE — The St. Helena Saints hardly missed a beat while smacking the Lower Lake Trojans 58-6 in a North Central League I varsity football game Friday night at Gordon Sadler Field in Lower Lake.
St. Helena improved to 3-0 in league play and 6-0 overall in the process. The Saints are tied with Willits atop the standings. Lower Lake falls to 0-3 in league and 0-6 overall.
“We had our moments when we played well I thought,” Lower Lake coach Mike Huffman said. “We”re a young team and I”m just trying to build for next year. We have everyone back.”
St. Helena led 14-0 after one quarter and 42-6 at the half. The Trojans” touchdown, which made it 28-6 at the time, came on a 74-yard pass from Jake Peters to Alphonsos Daniels, who finished with three catches for 87 yards.
“They”re very balanced,” Huffman said of the Saints. “I think they threw the ball a little more than they ran it.”
