LAKEPORT — A judge Monday continued all three pending cases against Andrew James Serrano while the defense considers a prosecution motion to consolidate the matters into one case.
Serrano, who turned 39 on Monday, remains in custody at the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail for charges in the most recent case, in which he faces seven felonies, including attempted murder.
Authorities allege Serrano beat his estranged wife and shot a man accompanying the woman as she retrieved personal items from a residence on Big Valley Road on Sept. 10. He pleaded not guilty to charges in that case and denied all special allegations Monday.
All three criminal cases against Serrano involve alleged acts against his estranged wife.
He previously pleaded not guilty in the second pending case in which he faces felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly following the woman, ramming her vehicle and leaving the scene in July.
Authorities claim he violated a court order to stay away from the woman during the July incident. The protective order originated because of the third pending case in which he faces two misdemeanors for alleged harassing phone calls to the woman in May.
Defense attorney Mitchell Hauptman told the court Monday that more information about the cases is still coming in and he needed time to review those discovery items before weighing in on the consolidation request. Judge Andrew S. Blum continued the hearing on the motion to consolidate to Oct. 31 at 8:15 a.m.
