CLEARLAKE — Honorable Stephen O. Hedstrom ruled Monday that three men will be held to stand trial for murder and other violent crimes stemming from a June 18 shooting that left a toddler dead and five others injured.

“It is clearly evident that we have three defendants pointing in different directions as to who was the shooter,” Hedstrom said.

Defendants Kevin Stone, 29, Paul Braden, 21, and Orlando Lopez, 23 face 16 counts ranging from murder and attempted murder to assault and other similar crimes. Multiple special allegations accompany each complaint.

“This court concludes that there is reasonable suspicious to hold the defendants to answer to some of the charges,” Hedstrom said.

The June 18 incident from which the charges stem resulted in the death of Skyler Rapp, 4. His parents, Desiree Kirby and Ross Sparks, along with Andrew Sparks, Ian Griffith and a 15-year-old boy were shot during the incident as well.

Arraignment on information is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Oct. 25 in Lake County Superior Court Department 4 in Clearlake.
