In her letter in the Record-Bee on Oct. 15, Ms. Baumann makes several startling assertions, which have little basis in reality. The “thousands of plucky kids” to which she refers are basically a collection of whiners, unemployed, students skipping school and paid agitators. Of course they can stage a week-long sit-in. They are either being subsidized by over-indulgent parents or paid by labor union goons and other left-wing loons. While they are protesting against the wealthy, they wave around their expensive smart phones and fancy sleeping bags. They have taken over a private park where they throw their garbage, defecate in public and generally make a mess while denying the use of the park and surrounding neighborhood to the citizens that live and work there. Very few of them can articulate any sort of coherent message. They can only parrot the slogans fed to them by environmentalists, anti-war kooks or their uber-liberal professors. The only thing they seem to agree on is that life is unfair (Big surprise!) and they should have everything provided for them at someone else”s expense. Some of them have stated they would not accept a job if one was offered. Meanwhile, they lay around, using drugs openly and engaging in public sex along with trashing the park and surrounding area.

If these are the kind of people Ms. Baumann wishes to ally herself with, it is of course her right to do so. I might suggest she could find more suitable role-models among the hard-working, honest citizens of Lake County.
