TALLIL, Iraq — The United States Department of Defense announced Tuesday the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn.
U.S. Army Pfc. Steven F. Shapiro, 29, of Hidden Valley Lake, died on Oct. 21 in Tallil, Iraq.
Shapiro was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas.
