LOWER LAKE — Oscar Martinez scored following a wild sequence in front of the Lower Lake net, lifting the Kelseyville Knights to a 1-0 victory over the Trojans in the North Central League I and regular-season finale for both of these varsity boys” soccer teams on Thursday in Lower Lake.
Martinez scored in the 60th minute after a series of Kelseyville shots were deflected by the Lower Lake keeper.
The win gives Kelseyville a final league mark of 11-2-1, good for second place in the league standings behind Fort Bragg (11-1-2), which defeated Cloverdale 1-0 on Thursday at Fort Bragg. The Knights are 13-4-2 overall and are likely headed to the North Coast Section playoffs. Seedings and at-large selections take place Sunday.
“If we get in we can prove some people wrong,” Kelseyville coach Eduardo Ledesma said. “We had fun this season. The kids are having fun.”
