I wonder just exactly how many TV news stations does Mr. Hall”s TV get? He writes of “mainstream media is owned and supported by the highly conservative powerful. Does he not get ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC?
I gather that the “highly conservative powerful” must mean FOX News. Does he not watch the other aforementioned stations? I watch MSNBC though, I must admit the only time I get chills up my legs is when I stand at the gas pump. I watched Chris Matthews interview Senator Rick Santorum after MSNBC hosted a Republican debate.
He asked the senator why he did not talk about gay marriage, Don”t ask, don”t tell and creation. Senator Santorum said he was asked so few questions by the moderators and the questions he was asked as were the other prospective candidates were about the economy and jobs. Matthews proceeded to push on why Santorum did not mention the topics of gay marriage etc. Santorum again said he gets one minute to answer the question posed by the moderator and felt that was what he was expected to answer. Matthews quite sarcastically said that he, Matthews thought that Santorum had sufficient time to enter his opinion on the other subjects. Again Santorum said that he was given as all candidates are given an allotted amount of time to respond. Matthews again pursued his doctrine and Santorum just threw up his hands, now I do not know how others may feel but I get very irritated when a moderator asks a question and I do not get a straight answer so Jim perhaps, just perhaps that is the one reason I like many devote time to watch FOX because I always get a assortment of opinions right and progressive. My father fought in WW1 though he never saw battle. My two brothers fought in WWII and saw battle. I lost a cousin to a kamikaze bomber who flew his plane into an aircraft carrier. My second husband Albert Carter was with the 1st Marine Division on Aug. 7, 1942 on the original landing on the island of Tulagi Solomon Islands. He received three Purple Hearts and the Silver Star for bravery. The command sent him on a battle from which they did not expect him to return alive. Other family members served in Korea. So I feel our family served our country well and proudly would do so again if called upon.
My family went on with their lives and prospered through hard work and street smarts. We are the middle class. We are living the American Dream. We are a divided nation but who exactly did the dividing? You can bet it was not the ordinary citizen who goes about daily activities. In our family we have a gay son, two African-American grandchildren and daughter-in-law and granddaughter from Thailand. We are not a “divided family, so who exactly is doing the dividing and why?
