LAKEPORT — Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Highway 29 and Argonaut Road in Lakeport late Sunday morning after a two-car crash.
William Pimentel, 52, of Lakeport was traveling eastbound on Argonaut Road around 11:50 a.m. Sunday when he attempted to cross the highway after stopping at the two-way stop sign, according to Officer Joe Wind of the California Highway Patrol.
Pimentel reportedly proceeded across the highway without seeing a Toyota Camry driving southbound on Highway 29.
The driver of the Camry, 45-year-old Derek Taaning of Vallejo, tried to brake but could not avoid Pimentel”s Ford Tempo, Wind said.
The right front side of the Camry collided with the driver side of the Tempo, which overturned once and landed back on its tires, according to Wind.
Pimentel, who was wearing his seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by REACH air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Wind said. A child in the Tempo suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Wind said.
Taaning and his female passenger sustained no injuries, Wind said.
The crash remains under investigation, but drugs or alcohol don”t appear to be a factor, according to Wind.
