LAKEPORT — At 7 p.m. Friday the Soper-Reese Community Theatre continues its local musicians showcase by presenting Bob Culbertson, master of the Chapman Stick, an unusual 12-string instrument with bass and guitar elements.
With more than 100,000 albums sold and several hundred students to his credit, Culbertson is one of the most influential touch soloists today. His musical style ranges from light jazz with folk and blues flavor to classical with Spanish, contemporary and traditional influences.
Opening act is Austin & Owens, the neo-Flamenco duo. Performing together for more than a decade, Travis Austin and Robert Owens draw from an enormous array of inspirations such as Al DiMeola, Eddie Van Halen, Enigma and Yngwie Malmsteen. While they play authentic flamenco guitars built in Spain, the pair are not a traditional Flamenco duo. Instead they reflect world sounds and flavors with jazz, classical, Spanish and rock influences.
The cost of all seats is $10.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.SoperReeseTheatre.com or from the theater box office, 275 S. Main St. in Lakeport, 263-0577. The box office is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and for two hours before showtime on the day of the show.
