CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police were requested at Trombetta”s Resort just before 5 p.m. Tuesday after a woman reported her husband was in a physical altercation with another man. The suspect left the scene prior to officers” arrival; however, following vehicle and foot pursuits and an investigation, the man was ultimately arrested.

Francis Newton Foster, 47, of Clearlake was arrested for battery on a person, evading a peace officer and vandalism. He was booked into Lake County Jail.

While officers were en route to Trombetta”s the woman said that the man hit a building as he was leaving the scene in a gray vehicle. Ultimately, no property damage was sustained other than personal property such as a cell phone, planner, etc.

The suspect vehicle was spotted by an officer at Flyers as the officer was making his way to the scene. A vehicle pursuit ensued to the area of Wilder and Hillcrest avenues where the man then ran from the vehicle. A foot pursuit followed and the K9 unit was requested.

The K9 unit tracked the suspect to an area residence. From that residence Interim Chief Craig Clausen said that investigation revealed that the suspected was transported to another residence, where he was later contacted and arrested.
