I greatly enjoyed Gary Dickson”s recent column about Chevrolets. As a former Detroiter, born and raised, like so many others in the area life revolved around the big three: Ford, Chrysler and GM. An employee was always expected to drive only a company vehicle.
My father was one of the first mechanics trained by Henry Ford in the 1920s when Mr. Ford realized the need as the automotive field expanded and became more complicated. However, my father saw to it that my first car at age 19 was a Chevrolet. He later worked for Chrysler Corporation as a test driver and mechanic, but upon retirement he purchased his own Chevrolet.
I am still a GM fan and have owned and driven only GM cars, which have stood the test of time.
