KELSEYVILLE ?- A head-on collision on Highway 29 late Sunday night left one driver dead and another suffering major injuries.

Isaiah Neil, 34, of Loch Lomond was driving his Honda Accord southbound on the highway just north of Highway 175 in Kelseyville when, for unknown reasons, his car crossed into the northbound lane and hit an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Neil died as a result of his injuries, the CHP said.

The SUV continued in a northeasterly direction, went off of the east edge of the road and rolled over, coming to rest on its right side facing south, according to the CHP.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and the Pathfinder caught fire, the CHP said.

The driver of the SUV, 26-year-old Jarret Parmenter of Kelseyville, suffered major injuries and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, the CHP said. The Record-Bee has no update about his condition as of this morning.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The CHP did report Neil was not wearing a seatbelt.
