UPPER LAKE — The Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD) responded to the area of Bridge Arbor Road late Sunday afternoon because of fires in a field of tules.
When the NFPD arrived just after 4:15 p.m., crews found three separate manmade fires in a roughly 15-acre area, according to chief Jay Beristianos.
“It was definitely a lit fire,” he said.
Beristianos said arson fires have been an ongoing problem in that area. About a month ago, the NFPD responded to two manmade fires that did little damage there, he said.
Firefighters helped the fires burn themselves out Sunday evening and left the scene by 8 p.m., Beristianos said.
The flames did no damage other than burning the field of tules, he said. The NFPD has not identified the person or people responsible for the fires.
