MIDDLETOWN — Middletown celebrated point guard Heather Huston”s return to the lineup Tuesday night by beating the Healdsburg Greyhounds 36-23 in a non-league junior varsity girls” basketball game at Middletown.

Huston, who has missed time with an ankle injury, scored 10 points and had a team-best four steals as Middletown improved to 4-2.

“She was great in the open floor,” Middletown coach Anthony Bazzano said. “She got us into our offense and scored 10 points on top of that.”

Middletown broke Healdsburg”s 1-3-1 press time and time again, according to Bazzano.

“And Healdsburg is a really well-coached team,” Bazzano said.

Ashley Hart”s 12 points paced the Mustangs and she also had four rebounds. Alisha Bell added six points and a team-best 11 rebounds.

“The girls played great tonight,” Bazzano said.

Middletown, still shy two of its starters because of injury, plays Analy in the opening round of the El Molino Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m.
