UPDATED:

As Calpine employees for many years, we have had the opportunity to see the company grow and change. During the past three years, as the company got stronger financially, frontline workers endured a series of takeaways ? including reductions in sick time, disability insurance and safety programs.

In order to regain our voice in the workplace we have begun an effort to gain union representation so that we have a seat at the table where the decisions about our safety and job security are made.

That”s why it meant so much to us that Governor Jerry Brown took time out of his busy schedule to meet with us this past Friday. We met with the Governor in Sacramento, and he asked us many questions about the issues we have been facing.

It was a great relief to have his ear and support as we continue to face a difficult environment and mandatory meetings with anti-union consultants at work. We greatly appreciate the time he was able to give us, and his concern for the economic security of California”s workers.

We are seeking to form our union to achieve a meaningful voice and representation at Calpine, not to create an adversarial relationship there.

We believe that by unionizing we will have greater opportunity to work together with Calpine”s management to problem solve, build trust, and create a stronger Calpine and a stronger community.

We are pro-Calpine, pro-Geysers, and pro-union.
