HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE — A structure fire broke out just before noon Tuesday on the 18300 block of Northshore Drive in Hidden Valley Lake. Two people suffered severe burns in the fire, which remains under the investigation of South Lake County Fire Protection District (SLCFPD).

Both burn victims were transported via REACH air ambulances to out-of-county hospitals for treatment of severe burns. Victims were flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and University of California at Davis.

Response was rendered by multiple Lake County agencies including SLCFPD, Lake County Fire, Kelseyville Fire and Northshore Fire protection districts. CAL FIRE also responded with aerial support. Units began responding at approximately 11:49 a.m. According to SLCFPD Battalion Chief Scott Upton the fire was considered contained at about 12:52 p.m. Units remained on scene for several hours performing mop-up efforts.

The fire that engulfed the large, two-story, single family dwelling resulted in downed power lines in the area as well as propane tank complications. Fire crews worked strategically to turn off the propane tank to prevent possible explosion.

Fire response included 40 firefighters, six engines, three medic units, a CAL FIRE helicopter and battalion chiefs from all responding agencies with the exception of Kelseyville fire.

Traffic control assistance was provided by Lake County Sheriff”s Office, California Highway Patrol and Hidden Valley Lake Security.
