SANTA ROSA — Nova Fox, 23, who was critically injured in a vehicle collision on Cobb Mountain last week, remains in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with a very serious head injury.
According to sister Aura Thomas, Fox was found unconscious and has not regained consciousness since the incident. Her neurosurgeon Dr. Pereria said “it is too soon to tell,” but Nova”s prognosis is “poor.”
The family has created a website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/novafox so that the community can have regular status updates on her medical condition and a place to participate in the status of Fox, who held a cashier position at the Texaco Station on Cobb Mountain and attended Yuba College.
Mother Arlene Fox wants the community to know, “Thank you for all the love and prayers sent Nova”s way.” According to Thomas, the family has been asking the community to pray for her recovery. The caring bridge website lists many people as “asking for a Christmas miracle.”
“This accident has been heartwrenching for our family and also many members of the community because Nova grew up here and was very well known. We have not been able to keep up with many personal requests for information, so we created a place for everybody to share Nova”s condition,” said Thomas. “She would want that.”
Thomas stated, “Nova is our family”s baby girl and we just want her to recover and come home.” According to Thomas, Fox is the youngest sibling of five ? Thomas, Omega Patterson-Fox, Terra Gwin and her twin brother Dar Fox.
Her boyfriend Sam Massette, who served on the student council with Fox at Yuba College said, “With Christmas coming up, the true gifts come in the form of your loved ones. I know all Nova would want is to be home with her family.” Sister Patterson-Fox said, “I just want people to keep praying.”
A fund has been established at Westamerica Bank in Fox”s name. Donations can be made at any Westamerica Branch under the “Nova Fox Medical Fund.”
