LAKEPORT — The Police Department will continue its targeted traffic enforcement effort next week on Lakeport Boulevard between South Main Street and Parallel Drive.

The program intends to increase driver awareness and enhance public safety by adding police presence in specific areas on random days.

“After considering community concerns and assessing higher traffic volume areas of the city, the department intends to increase enforcement of hazardous traffic violations such as speed, improper turning movements, right-of-way violations, failure to obey traffic signs or signals, impaired driving and use of cellular phones while driving,” Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said.

Citizens with concerns about traffic safety are encouraged to contact a department supervisor.
