LAKEPORT — A traffic stop Monday evening resulted in one arrest and the seizure of methamphetamine, according to the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO).

An LCSO narcotics detective was reportedly driving in Lakeport around 5:35 p.m. Monday when a vehicle exited a driveway in front of him with insufficient space, forcing the officer to take evasive action to avoid a crash, according to the LCSO.

The detective reported noticing the vehicle had several code violations.

As the officer left his vehicle during the traffic stop in the 1800 block of Martin Street, he contacted Rigoberto Rubalcaba, 50, of Ukiah.

The detective recognized the Mendocino County resident, who he knew to be on active parole, authorities said.

The man reportedly kept taking his hands in and out of his pockets while walking around the car during the traffic stop. The LCSO stated it found approximately 4.5 grams of methamphetamine in the area where Rubalcaba was pacing.

Rubalcaba was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and parole violation. He was booked into the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility that night.
