PHUKET, Thailand — You really can”t call it a leisurely vacation, not when part of the itinerary includes a 12-kilometer run, a 1.8-kilometer swim and a 55-kilometer bike ride.
Nevertheless, three Lakeport men recently combined a case of serious athletic business with pleasure while competing in a triathlon in Phuket, Thailand. Mike Murray, owner of Tri-Dreamin, a triathlon training company, joined Roy Disney and Greg Hadfield as well as family and friends on the trip to Thailand late last month.
The event was the culmination of months and years of intense training for the three men, all of whom finished and are currently preparing for their next competition. More than 1,100 triathletes representing 40 countries took part.
