CLEARLAKE OAKS — A Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) K-9 unit arrested a Clearlake man following a vehicle pursuit Monday night.
The deputy and his K-9 were patrolling Clearlake Oaks when they tried to stop a vehicle but the driver, 47-year-old Jimmy Dale Scarborough, allegedly failed to comply, according to Michelle Gonzalez of the LCSO.
A chase occurred for more than a mile, reaching speeds in excess of 40 mph through residential areas known for having heavy foot traffic and several blind corners, Gonzalez said.
Scarborough eventually stopped and exited the vehicle but didn”t obey multiple orders from the deputy, Gonzalez said.
The officer reportedly told the man to get on the ground or the dog would be deployed.
Then, “the suspect began to flee the area and the K-9 engaged him,” Gonzalez said.
Scarborough was arrested and booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility. He faces felony charges of parole violation and evading a peace officer with disregard for public safety as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
