I have had one of the worst experiences of my life recently.
On my way to shopping in Lakeport at about 11 a.m. on Dec. 23, I saw a fawn beside the road.
It was obviously injured but alert. I called the Lake County Sheriff”s Office. I was told it”s “Not our job” and to call the California Highway Patrol.
Since I was going in that direction, I stopped at the California Highway Patrol office.
I told them of the injured animal near Soda Bay Market. I was told “We”ll take care of it.”
As I came home about an hour later, the fawn was still there but no longer alert. I realize human problems take priority, but it seems something could have been done in an hour”s time. So much for God”s creatures. Merry Christmas.
