LAKE COUNTY — Mendocino College completed the foundation for the first of three buildings at the college”s new Lake County Center on Parallel Drive in Lakeport.

“This represents an important concrete step in the completion of the vision of a permanent college site for Lake County. Last year saw the pouring of step one with the planning, award of the contract, and 2012 will see the completion of the final steps to provide higher education in Lake County,” Mike Adams, Director of Facilities Planning, said. “The concrete pour started at 3 a.m. in order to assure that finishing would be done during daylight hours,” according to Adams. The project is a $14 million facility made up of an administrative/student center main building; lab building for science, music and art, and a classroom building, which also includes a computer lab. The project completion is expected next December. Classes are scheduled at the new facility for the spring 2013 semester. For more information go to www.mendocino.edu.
