LOWER LAKE — Lower Lake High School freshman wrestler Dominic Cole was injured during practice Wednesday evening. The boy was airlifted from a landing zone at the school campus.

Response was requested at approximately 7:38 p.m. following a report that a wrestler cracked his head. The boy stated that he had no feeling in his legs.

According to head coach Ed Fuchs, Cole was practicing with a teammate during “live wrestling at the end of practice” when he made contact with Fuchs, who was working nearby with another wrestler.

The head-to-head contact was so violent it also sent Fuchs to the hospital.

“I was seeing stars,” said Fuchs, who sustained a whiplash-type injury.

Fuchs said on Thursday afternoon he didn”t have an update on Cole”s condition.

“I haven”t heard back from his mom yet,” Fuchs said.

REACH 6 provided aerial transport to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
