CLEARLAKE — An 8-year-old boy was airlifted from St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake Thursday evening after being accidentally shot in the eye with a BB-gun by his cousin.
Response was requested on Sharp Avenue at about 6:03 p.m. Medics arrived on scene, after briefly staging in the area, to find the boy bleeding from his left eye. The boy was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake where he was later flown out, via REACH 6, to an out-of-county medical facility.
Lake County Fire Protection District Chief Willie Sapeta said the boy was airlifted because it was unsure if the BB was lodged in his eye or not.
