I think Guff missed what I was trying to say in his last response to my letter to the editor, even though his points are well taken.

So let me put it this way; I apply for a private sector job and I say I am only going to be in the office 151 days a year, the rest of the time I”m going to be out raising money for myself and shmoozing with your competitors, with a minimal amount worth of work for you.

Oh by the way, I am going to abuse the heck out of your expense account. Let me see, can I find a job like that in the private sector?

On the other hand I would not employ this person, so why as taxpayers; (i.e. employer) are we putting up with this?

If you are a strict Constitutionalist, I don”t think any of our forefathers wanted “us” to get into the banking, car, real estate and solar industry.

In fact, they are probably rolling over in their graves over where we have gone. Now they want us to spend $10 million on a remake of Sesame Street for Pakistan? If this was so important, don”t you think the movie industry would do this, not the taxpayers?

When our Congressmen think they are doing the work of the people, they do wasteful and stupid spending like this.

Take the issue of a mandate to get rid of incandescent light bulbs and replace them with CFL”s.

If you break one in your house, you have to call in a HazMat team to clean it up. You”re importing two-a-half tons of mercury from China per year and they really don”t have a way to property dispose of them?

Plus I think the energy saving is as low as only 1 percent. Now, I”m no rocket scientist but this is fraught with mistakes and I”m paying for representation like this?

Bottom line: Stop spending so much and do something to stop it.
