CLOVERDALE — Clear Lake High School put on the press in the third quarter and ran away from the Cloverdale Eagles, 55-35, in a North Central League I junior varsity boys” basketball game Friday night in Cloverdale.

A 21-7 third quarter that favored the Cardinals (2-0 league, 11-1 overall) put the game out of reach, according to Clear Lake coach Jeremy Hopkins.

“We took over the game from them,” Hopkins said of the decisive third quarter. “And if we could have made a few more of our layups, we would have won by even more.”

David Mansell”s 14 points led a balanced scoring attack. Ootie Lane added 12 and Charlie Marquez and Brandon Helms had eight apiece.

Clear Lake plays a non-league game today in Laytonville at 2 p.m.
