KELSEYVILLE — The Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) announced it is searching for anyone involved in the reported shooting of a teenager early Sunday morning.
Deputies responded to Pioneer Park in Kelseyville around 1:15 a.m. and ultimately found a 15-year-old boy with an apparent bullet wound on his right ankle, according to LCSO Sgt. Steve Brooks.
The teenager originally said he was walking along Second Street when a white pickup, maybe a Ford F-150, drove down Saderlund Street and an occupant shot him, according to Brooks.
The boy reportedly changed his story after being taken to the hospital.
Brooks said officers again met with the teenager, who “became somewhat uncooperative” and claimed it could have been a Toyota Tacoma. He also allegedly told authorities an occupant in the truck yelled profanities at him before he was shot.
The boy described the shooter as a Hispanic man with short hair, a mustache and a hat, according to Brooks.
Deputies reportedly found a spent .40-caliber casing near the intersection of Second and Saderlund streets. They also discovered a bullet, which fell out of the boy”s pants while he received medical treatment, Brooks said.
The deputies searched the area and learned that a white pickup had been seen speeding down Saderlund Street minutes before their arrival, Brooks said.
Authorities also talked to two witnesses who were with the teenager at the time of the shooting, and one of those people thought the vehicle could have been a Volkswagen Jetta, according to Brooks.
Neither witness could describe the person in the vehicle but both thought they heard two gunshots, Brooks said.
The LCSO asks anyone with information about the incident to call 262-4200.
