LOWER LAKE — Fire response was requested at approximately 12:28 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 29 in the area of Hoffacker Road south of Lower Lake following a report of a vehicle fire. The fire spread to nearby vegetation.

The fire was situated between the response areas of CAL FIRE/South Lake County Fire Protection District and Lake County Fire Protection District. Both agencies responded sending two engines apiece and each a battalion chief.

According to LCFPD Chief Willie Sapeta the vehicle was fully involved and destroyed by fire and an about 50-foot by 100-foot area of vegetation was scorched. The fire was considered contained at 12:50. Mop-up operations took about a half hour, Sapeta said.

The roadway was partially blocked by emergency vehicle during the suppression effort.
