The purpose of this letter is to let everyone know that there is light at the end of the tunnel regarding the condition of the Highway 29 area from Hidden Valley Lake to Lower Lake.
I recently sent a letter to the District 1 office of Caltrans located in Eureka. I explained to them about the very unsafe condition of our highway and how very unsafe it is to drive on especially in rainy weather.
I asked them how it is justified to repair the highway from Middletown to Cobb and not to do this section of highway? I added that many people are experiencing rocks hitting their windshields every day. I have a eight-inch crack in my car”s windshield.
After I mailed the letter I received a very nice phone call from Caltrans thanking me for my letter. She, Kathy, said she will be hooking me up with the area project coordinator for Cal Trans to further coordinate the repair of our highway.
It would be very prudent if everyone who is concerned about our section of Highway 29 to also write to Caltrans letting them know, as I did, that the condition of this highway is unacceptable. Each writer should also include information in their letters on personal vehicle damage because of the rocks, etc., coming off this highway.
Letters can be sent to: Attn.: Kathy Caltrans District 1 Office, P.O. Box 3700, Eureka, CA. 95501
