NICE — A black Chevrolet Blazer collided with a trailer being towed by a pickup and a car along Highway 20 in front of Ceago Vinegarden in Nice Thursday at around 11:45 a.m. According to Officer Cortez with the California Highway Patrol, witnesses to the crash reported the Blazer had a tire blow out, which may have caused the collisions. Cortez said the Blazer was headed eastbound on Highway 20 toward Lucerne at approximately 45 to 50 mph when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided with the pickup truck”s trailer. The Blazer then collided with the red sedan that was behind the truck. The Blazer continued down the highway for approximately 50 feet before crashing into the wire fence of a vineyard. The driver of the Blazer was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport complaining of pain. The pickup truck”s trailer was not badly damaged and the driver left the scene after providing information, Cortez said. The collision caused the red sedan to crash into a telecommunication line box located along the shoulder of the highway. Cortez said it was believed there was no outage caused by the crash and AT&T was on scene repairing the box. The driver of the red sedan was not injured. Drugs or alcohol were not yet determined to be a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
