NICE — A smoking stove started a structure fire in a double-wide mobile home on Lee Street in Nice Tuesday morning.

According to the Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD), units from Nice, Lucerne and Upper Lake responded to the incident, including more than a dozen personnel and four fire engines.

The fire was controlled within 15 minutes, though several hours of clean up was needed, NFPD said. The home sustained major damage and the family lost many of their belongings, NFPD said.

Personnel determined the fire started on the stove top while someone was cooking.
