LOWER LAKE — Three people died and three more were airlifted to a Santa Rosa hospital after two cars collided on Highway 29 near Twin Lakes early Saturday evening.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. when the driver of a northbound BMW sedan lost control for unknown reasons and the car skidded into the opposite lane, where it struck a southbound Ford SUV, according to Sgt. Dave Stark of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

All three passengers in the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene, Stark said. They were identified as Patrick Campbell, 27, of Santa Rosa, and Kari Marks, 53, and Jena Marks, 24, both of Hidden Valley Lake.

The driver of the BMW, Michael Wright, 50, of Hidden Valley Lake, suffered trauma to his chest and pelvis, and was transported by REACH to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Stark said.

The two Clearlake residents traveling in the Ford — Steven Beyer, 53, and Lezley Beyer, 54 — sustained major injuries and were also airlifted to the same hospital, Stark said.

Stark said Monday the CHP hadn”t received any updates about the conditions of the survivors.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation though alcohol was not a factor, according to Stark.

All six people were wearing safety equipment and no arrests were made, he added.
