LAKEPORT — A judge Tuesday granted a defense request to delay the preliminary hearing of a Nice man accused of shooting a woman in Lucerne last summer.
Daniel R. Loyd, 50, faces six felonies, including murder and assault with a firearm, for his alleged role in the death of Lake County resident Cindy Yvette Quiett.
Authorities claim Loyd shot Quiett, 48, during a robbery attempt in the early morning hours of Sept. 13.
Loyd has pleaded not guilty to all counts and denied several special allegations in the case, which had been set for preliminary hearing in early February.
However, defense counsel Robert Boyd asked for a continuance Tuesday morning at the Lake County Courthouse. Judge Andrew S. Blum rescheduled the hearing for May 9.
